Carlo Scotto visits Nurtured in Norfolk

Today, we had the pleasure of showing around the brilliant Chef, Carlo Scotto. Carlo is the Head Chef and owner of Xier | XR, in Marylebone, London.

Xier | XR boasts two restaurants under one roof. On the first floor, there is Xier. Xier showcases an elaborate tasting menu, described on his website as an embodiment of his journey through Europe, Scandinavia and Japan. Meanwhile, XR is located on the ground floor and showcases a more casual version of Carlo’s more formal fine dining menu.

Carlo was joined by Oui Chef Sales Director, a Marylebone journalist and a photographer.

The tour lasted around two hours, allowing time for all of Carlo’s questions to be answered. One of our Directors, Allan Miller, walked Carlo around the greenhouses, talking about the Nurtured journey and encouraging Carlo to try any produce he hadn’t used before. Engrossed in conversation, Allan talked Carlo through the stages of growing – from seed tray to cress.

Speaking with Carlo, he described his love for cooking as more than a passion, rather, an “obsession”. Carlo also reminded us that no micro was used for style alone, instead, all the micros he uses add depth of flavour too.

Having taken plenty of photographs of Carlo and the produce, we then headed over to the warehouses to explore packing and dispatch.

At the end of the tour, the team left with a couple of goodies – new products that will be revealed soon! Overall it was a fantastic tour and one we would definitely welcome again.
