Meet the Masterchef 2018 chefs: Greg Emmerson
This year Greg Emmerson takes on Masterchef, cooking and competing through a variety of heats, quarter finals and knockouts until the ultimate winner is crowned. Greg Wallace and John Trorode judge the dishes being served – with all the action, tantrums, successes and burning disasters caught on camera. The winner goes away with a trophy and the prestige of being THE Masterchef of the series.
Greg Emmerson is 52 years young & currently employed as an IT Infrastructure & Security Manager for a major retailer in London. With some exciting news that Greg is about to embark on career in food, more details will be released very soon. Keep an eye out on our social media & blog to find out more.
What was the reason in taking part on Masterchef?
I would have entered if it was on the radio, for me it was to see if I was a decent cook, and to receive evaluable feedback from professionals in the industry.
Is there a way to handle the criticism from the judges?
Feedback is a gift and it helps you grow and learn as a cook.
What is the atmosphere like in the kitchen cooking alongside other chefs?
Being surrounded by like-minded food obsessive people is very inspiring in the kitchen, we were all pulling for one another to do well.
What is your approach to the imagination & creation of your dishes?
I like to challenge people’s perceptions of how a dish should look. My thought process is based on making the dish fun and interesting, it should be a great experience.
What is your cooking style and what can people expect from the food on your menu?
I like to think my style of cooking is based on classic combinations with modern twists, but always acknowledging the past.
What was your greatest accomplishment during your time on Masterchef?
Making it to the Semi-Finals was a great achievement, more people have been to the moon than made it to the semi-finals! My non rice seafood risotto dish received lots of great feedback on the show and social media, if I get stopped on the street I always get asked about that dish and the egg breakfast dish I did too.
Were there any down sides during your time on Masterchef?
Leaving the competition, its very addictive working under that pressure in the kitchen.
Would you take part again if the opportunity was to come around & would there be anything you would change?
I’d jump at the chance to enter the competition again if we were allowed, if people get the chance to go on the show, grab it with both hands, it can change your life, I know it has mine!
