Geraniums are rich in essential oils. They are a great garnish and are perfect for flavouring. Geranium flowers lend themselves as a great garnish for a range of sweet dishes and drinks. Their flavour profile compliments many ingredients, such as lemon, rhubarb, rose and blueberry. Although great on sweet treats, Geraniums can also be used to garnish meat platters. Like almost all of our edible flowers at Nurtured in Norfolk, Geraniums work beautifully when scattered as a garnish on cakes or over desserts. As well as regular sponge cakes, Geraniums can also be scattered atop cheesecakes, ice cream or chocolate mousses. Due to their sweet aroma, they also work well when used to garnish lemonades and summer drinks. This Aroma also makes for a unique cake decoration as not only do they add a beautiful look but also a beautiful smell. More commonly, Geraniums have been added to jellies and jams.
