These edible flowers are often used as a herb, try adding Lavendula to sweet and savoury dishes to enhance the flavour. Use dried Lavender edible flowers to garnish cocktails, sorbets or salads. Dried petals are a great addition for use in marinades, buttercream and sauces. Infuse vegetable stock with lavender to create a tasty sauce for meats like duck, chicken or lamb. Also try them steeped in a hot tea. Alternatively use the dried lavender petals decoratively on a variety of sweet bakes including cake, cupcakes, donuts and cookies. Not only will they add a floral fragrance to the bake but a perfect sprinkle of colour too. The dried edible flowers have a shelf life of 6 months, which gives you plenty of time to decide what you’re going to create with them.
Taste:
Dried Lavender petals are part of the mint family and are also known as English Lavendula. This edible flower has a sweet, floral and citrusy scent and is said by Specialty Produce to have hints of balsamic. The fresh flower fragrance is best released when the plant is crushed or brushed against.
