Taste: Rainbow Chard reveals a colourful personality, a very tender texture and an earthy beet-like flavour. The firm leaves are mild, sweet, earthy and just slightly bitter; on the whole, it’s a bit milder than spinach.

Uses: Ideal garnish for pork tenderloin, veal, chicken, quail and game. Especially compatible with Mediterranean cuisine, enhancing mixed green fresh salads with this down to earth beet flavour. Generally, any flavour that works well with spinach will partner with chard, including butter, lemon, cream, garlic, shallots and vinaigrette. Rainbow chard is compared to spinach, as mentioned before, but it’s generally considered to be better tasting, with a meaty, earthy flavour.

Health Benefits: Chard rainbow is an excellent source of vitamins K, A and C as well as a good source of magnesium, potassium, iron and fibre. It improves vision, heart health, cancer prevention and promotes bone growth.
