The Ice Plant flowers are very small, with numerous daisy-like petals. Although, due to the delicate size of the flower, they are best used as garnishes. They can be used raw to decorate savoury dishes. The white delicate flowers are commonly used with the leaves. Use the edible blooms in a salad and use the ice plant leaves for a delicate touch. Alternatively, the flowers can be used to decorate seafood platters. Moreover, the edible flowers can be used to decorate snacks and other bakes. The edible leaves are often used as ‘cups’ for fillings such as fish. Adding flowers to a variety of culinary preparations, will give an attractive white garnish.
Taste:
Ice Plant has a jelly-like interior which is known to be sour and salty, with grassy flavours. The flowers themselves do not possess much flavour. The colour of the flower varies from white to pink.
