Sam Sturman

Hi, my name is Sam Sturman. I am 23 years old and I am the Head Chef at The Brewers in Rattlesden.

I have been cooking since I was 14 years old and I have always been very inspired and passionate about cooking. I studied at West Suffolk college for 3 years to learn the basics and also achieving my VRQ1, VRQ2 and NVQ3 qualification.

Straight after college I moved away from Suffolk to work at some of the best Michelin starred restaurants in the country, such as Midsummer House (Cambridge), Pollen Street Social (Mayfair, London), The Raby Hunt restaurant (Darlington) and Moreston Hall (Norfolk).

When I was a young student aspiring to be a chef I always planned on moving away for 3 years to work hard while I was still young and to work in the best Michelin restaurants, to gain as much experience as possible to then return back to Suffolk to my find myself a job where I can settle down and push for my first Head Chef position.
The Brewers in Rattlesden is the best place for me to showcase everything I have learnt from where I’ve worked and for me to show my style of cooking.

The most amazing thing about working back in Suffolk is using the local suppliers to use the best ingredients possible!

I have used Nurtured in Norfolk for many years now and they have never failed to deliver consistently, perfectly grown micro herbs to garnish my dishes.
