Taste: Tagete edible flowers have a refreshing citrus taste.

Uses: Tagete edible flowers are best used as a garnish for sweet dishes. However, they can be used to garnish savoury dishes, salads and canapés. Tagetes are great for larger celebration cakes and tarts. Try garnishing cupcakes and tiered cakes with the whole Marigold flower. Their vibrant orange, yellow and deep red colours also work well with other edible flowers. For example, they work well when used alongside Tiny Tagetes, Dianthus, Roses and Violas. Just like lots of other other edible flowers, Tiny Tagetes work well as a garnish for drinks too. The flower can be used whole, or the petals can be pulled off the stem and floated on drinks. If pulling the stems off the flowers, these can also be tossed through salad mixes to add vibrant colour.

Health Benefits: Marigolds are part of the Asteraceae family, and have a variety of health benefits. The Journal of Nutrition found the antioxidants in these edible flowers were effective in helping fight and prevent cancer cells. Traditionally, Marigolds have been used to help wound healing. They have also been found to improve oily skin, and boost the immune system.
