Mimulus are from the Scrophulariaceae family and are best used as a raw garnish. The flowers can be used whole atop a variety of cakes and sweet treats. As well as cakes, these edible flowers can also be used to float on a jug of summer punch. Their vibrant and quirky colours will be sure to catch your guests’ eyes! Alternatively, Mimulus can be used in savoury preparations. The most common use is as a savoury garnish, tossing the flowers through a salad.

Taste: Each spotted petal is different on the mimulus flower. The spotted petals have delicate little markings. The flavour is however a little more subtle, starting with a refreshing lettuce-like taste. After this more muted flavour, a subtle bitter taste is present., however its not overpowering, which makes Mimulus suitable for sweet and savoury dishes.
