Red Basil can be used in place of other sweet Basil varieties. Chop and toss through green and grain salads, soups, tomato sauces and pastas. Its large size lends well for use in sandwiches, wraps, and pizzas. Its flavour also pairs well with tomatoes and mozzarella cheeses. Combine the edible leaves with pine nuts to make a striking coloured Red Basil pesto. In addition, use this vibrant herb as a garnish. Chop the red leaves and serve atop canapés, starters or main courses. Specialty Produce suggests to compliment the flavour of this herb with a good white wine, such as a glass of Chardonnay. Our Red Basil is available mostly all year round and is best kept air tight in the fridge, where the herb will last for 5 days.

Taste: Bunched Red Basil leaves are aromatic and offer a mild, sweet flavour with hints of cinnamon and pepper. They have the texture of a lettuce leaf with a cold crisp bite.
